To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is in regards to a female pup purchased from Susan Madlung on Dec 06, 2003.

Susan is a person of her word, when you make a deal with her she sees it through to the very

end. I had a few problems and Susan was 100% at working with me. She kept her word and

did everything that she had promised to do. She is a very loyal, faithful and honest person. Even

though I have never met her personally I feel as if I have known her all my life.

The pup that I bought is just awesome. I have owned German Shepherds all my life and the pup

that I purchased from Susan this year is exceptional with looks, confirmation, temperament and

intelligence. My pup has been very easy to train. And has caught on to her house breaking within

a day. And retrieving her ball with in a couple of hours while playing. The pup is very quick at

learning everything that she is taught or shown. As well has caught on to her Basic Obedience

within minutes.

Susan's pups are very healthy, loved and cared for. My pup has given me nothing but pure love,

trust and companionship so far. I would certainly buy from her again and refer my friends or any

one looking for a quality Shepherd to her.

Thank you Susan, you are an angel sent from above when it came to your help and the

replacement of my old friend Karlie

UPDATE: SEPT 25, 2005

Hi Susan
Just wanted to touch base and let you know that my girl Karma is doing great.
She has been in two shows these past couple of weeks.
At her obedience trial, she did very well with scores of 165 1/2, we needed 170 to qualify. For her first time in the ring I was very happy with this score (this is a good start for the next show). With the agility competition this week end she placed first in the starters group both yesterday and today.
She has grown into a beautiful young lady, very intelligent and my best companion. I love her with all my heart and I can not thank you enough for keeping her for me until I could afford to pay for her.

Last year I was lucky enough to get a fantastic show bitch from Susan, on a
co-ownership. When she came to me, Dana was happy, loving, and settled right in
even though she was 4 years old.  Showing her has been a dream come true.
She was well trained for the ring, making my job and my handler's job easy.
Susan has been excellent to co-own a dog with. She is supportive, caring,
and helpful when I need advice. I would co-own with or buy another dog from
Sue in a heartbeat.

We haven't purchased a dog from Susan & Hank, but we do "own" 2 of their dogs.

"Nelly" and "Mulder" have become important members of our family and I can't imagine

life without these great dogs in it. Mulder came to us about 6 months ago at the age of

6 1/2 when we lost our own male to cancer and blended into our lives as if he had

always been there. We have often visited Shadowacre and the dogs - adults and

puppies alike. The kids love to play with the dogs, even though we have 2 of our own

living with us.

Thank you, Susan, for making our family complete, and helping us achieve that with these wonderful dogs.

The puppy that we purchased from Susan at  Shadowacre is just an Angel; her temperament and obvious intelligence are amazing. Her loving manner speaks volumes of the caring start that Susan gave her.

Susan's puppies are very healthy, loved and well cared for. Our puppy has given us amazing companionship and lifts our spirits with her unique sense of adventure! We would definitely recommend Susan to anyone looking for a quality German Shepherd.

Thank you Susan, for allowing us to raise and love one of your beautiful dogs. Her name is "Shatze", which is German for 'sweetheart' and our girl is definitely that.

After searching high and low for the consummate combination of breeder and German Shepherd puppy, we found Shadowacre Registered Kennels. Susan was very helpful and informative, answering a zillion questions and never minding the multiple emails back and forth, including those challenging pictures she sent us of stacking the pups. Thank you Hank for doing the impossible! When we finally met face to face on February 8, 2004, the only challenge that we encountered was how difficult it was to choose between puppies! The three out of the four female puppies in the litter were spectacular. All had solid conformation and temperament, and so it was a matter of degree on which pup to choose. A sign of a truly excellent breeder!

Flare has only been with us for one day, but already she has settled in to “Island Life” and is hanging out with the Siamese cats and soon will be introduced to “Cherry” our horse. She is a “quick study” and after one session of leash training, she has caught on and is walking right at our side. I am exceedingly impressed that when she is being bombarded with new stimuli that she does not go rushing in, but instead sits down immediately, remains calm and surveys the new object. Then when given the word to approach it, she assertively moves forward and gives it a good sniffing over. Flare is a very calm and intelligent animal in between those comical bursts of puppy behavior that keep us on our toes! I am very impressed with her maturity levels and plan for a positive show experience in the future. (NOTE: Flare is only 9 weeks old)

THANK YOU SUSAN AND HANK!

In late July this year (2004) we became the proud owners of two beautiful pups from Sue Madlung - Shadowacre Reg'd German Shepherds

The male and female pups or twins as we prefer to call them, have a wonderful friendly temperament and are full of life. Even prior to picking up the twins we were encouraged to visit as often as possible, including meeting both the parent dogs. Even now they are at home with us the support from Sue has been both timely and never failing.  The twins are healthy, strong, alert and very intelligent, already responding to several commands.  Already they are displaying all the preferred traits of the GS breed together with an even loving temperament. We are more than satisfied.

We have a beautiful male dog that we purchased from Sue in July, 2004. He has been all we expected and more. A very confident puppy with a calm temperament that we all aspire to have in a German Shepherd. He is growing into and becoming a very handsome boy. We'd like to thank Sue for all the time and patience that she extended to us. She was always accommodating when we wanted to come and see the puppies and was very patient and understanding in allowing us to make our choice. It was a hard one as it was a beautiful litter.

We can say with honesty that anyone who chooses to receive one of Sue’s dogs will not be disappointed and we have already recommended her to our family and friends.

I first e-mailed Susan in July about breeding my girl to her gorgeous solid black boy Jackson. She was so fast at getting back to me and very informative. I sent her pictures of my girl and her pedigree and she made sure they were good and compatible. She even contacted Jackson's breeder to get her thoughts on the breeding because she wanted to make sure it would be suitable. I wasn't sure exactly when my girl was due for season I just knew it would be anytime.

Well, the time finally came. She came into season at the end of August. Susan was due to have surgery right about the time Katrina would be ready to go over to her place so she wasn't sure if she'd be able to do the breeding after all, but she said she'd her best. I contacted Susan the day after her surgery and she said to bring her on over the very next day - just 2 days after her surgery and she'd give it her best shot (she did have someone to help her, she said) even though she was still sore and a bit stiff. The initial meeting between Susan and Katrina went well and between Katrina and Jackson. Katrina was a bit difficult after we left when it came to putting her leash on and trusting. (I got Katrina as an unsocialized adult. I'm unsure exactly what had happened to her in the past to break her trust)

Susan did great with her and earned Katrina's trust. She couldn't manage natural breedings so did several A.Is on her and she said Katrina was really well behaved. I'm very pleased and happy in my dealings with Susan and very happy with how she handled and treated my girl. She's very honest and carries through on her word. She's been great for answering my gazillion questions. I look forward to the arrival of the puppies (we are very sure Katrina is pregnant) and am sure I'll have many more questions for Susan in the future and look forward to dealing with her.

Thank you, Susan, for your hard work with Katrina even though you were still recovering from surgery! You knew how much this breeding meant to me and well above and beyond to get it done.
